CAIRO – 14 May 2018: Following its notorious poll that questions Egypt’s sovereignty over Halayeb triangle, Russia Today once again hit another low by putting out a fraudulent map of the Arab world which shows that Halayeb is not a part of Egypt.

The said map was the base of an info graph published on RT, highlighting the most powerful militaries of the Arab World in 2018, with Egypt coming at the top and Sudan at the bottom.

In press remarks on Monday, Head of the National Press Authority, Karam Gabr, said that Russia Today is showing persistence in harming Egypt, and called on the concerned parties form all media organizations to boycott Russia Today.

"Ill intentions have been manifested and it is a deliberate attempt to sow a discord between Egypt and Sudan," Gabr added.

On Friday evening, the channel launched a poll over the sovereignty of the Halayeb Triangle, asking whether the area belongs to Egypt or Sudan.

Later on Saturday, Russia Today (RT) apologized for the poll conducted on the disputed Halayeb Triangle area, located on the Egyptian-Sudanese border, and took it down from the website after Egypt voiced its denouncement of the poll.

“Russia Today’s administration apologized for the resentment caused to the Egyptian side. It explained that the purpose [of the poll] did not aim to offend Egypt. It also did not aim to question its [Egypt’s] territorial integrity. It [the poll] is an applicable media form being used to deal with issues,” the channel said in a statement.

“We abide by the rules of objectivity and neutralism in dealing with our news stories,” the statement read, affirming that the poll results do not represent the channel’s editorial policy.
