Retrial of former interior minister to kick off May 5

CAIRO - 2 May 2018: The Cairo Court of Appeal will set May 5 for the first session of the retrial of former interior minister Habib El Adly and a number of the ministry leaderships.

They are charged with siphoning off public funds of the ministry estimated at more than LE 2 billion in the period between 2000 and 2011.

The court of cassation had revoked a 7-year jail sentence against Adly and ordered his retrial.

Adly's lawyer urged the retrial of his client, annulling the work of the financial experts committee mandated by the investigating magistrate.
