LONDON - 26 April 2018: As many as 61 Syrian armed forces and 49 Daesh militants were killed in clashes south of Damascus in a week, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) announced on Thursday.

In a statement carried by the US channel Alhurra, the SOHR said the heavy fighting has left 19 civilians dead, adding the Syrian regime forces targeted Daesh sites with surface-to-surface missiles instead of airstrikes due to bad weather.

Meanwhile, the Syrian Arab Army units on Thursday targeted several positions and main supply routes of the terrorist organizations which are positioned in al-Hajar al-Aswad.

The army has been intensifying its strikes against terrorists’ positions in al-Hajar al-Aswad since last night, destroying many of their vehicles and positions along with the ammunition and equipment inside them, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported.

The army's move came within the framework of the continued military operations to secure the area to the south of Damascus and to eradicate terrorism in it.
