CAIRO – 19 April 2018: Emad Abu Hussein, lawyer of the Egyptian student Mariam Moustafa who was brutally beaten to death by a gang of English women in Nottingham, U.K., said that he has received a death threat in the mail over his client’s case.
Abu Hussein said in a phone call with TV host Ahmed Moussa that he found death threats at his house’s mailbox without an address or postage stamp. The mail’s contents stated: “A Muslim girl was killed. You’ll be next if continued to be her defense lawyer.”
Abu Hussein added that the British police have asked him to leave his house in order to avoid any danger. The lawyer said that he requested security protection for his life from the authorities, as long as the case stays in court.
In late February, Moustafa, an engineering student based in Nottingham, U.K., was brutally beaten by 10 British women of African descent. The incident stirred condemnation of both the Egyptian Foreign Ministry and the British embassy in Cairo.
An Egyptian parliamentary delegation was sent to the U.K. in March to follow up on the investigations of Moustafa’s case. Egypt’s Attorney General Nabil Sadek has ordered an official copy of the death investigations of the 18-year-old Egyptian student.
