CAIRO – 8 May 2017: Egypt’s population is expected to reach 93 million by May 15, 2017, Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) adviser Mohammed Abdul Jalil said in an interview with Hona al-Asema talk show on CBC satellite channel Sunday.

“If we add the eight million Egyptians abroad, the total population count inside and abroad will reach 101 million,” added Abdul Jalil. He pointed out that the population clock demonstrates an increase of four people every minute, which means an individual is born every 15 seconds.

Egypt has seen a 23.7 percent increase in its population in the period between 2006 and early 2016. The population count recorded 92 million in November 2016, an increase of one million individuals in less than six months.
