CAIRO - 13 April 2018: Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria is set to meet the Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa on Friday at Saint Mark's Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Abbassiya, amid his current visit to Egypt.

De Sousa started a three-day visit to Cairo on Thursday, where he first met President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, speaker of Parliament Ali Abdel-Aal, and Grand Imam of Azhar Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb. The first day also included an expanded meeting grouping the delegations of both countries.

According to the presidential spokesperson, Bassem Rady, the two leaders urged accelerating the implementation of what was agreed upon by the two sides during the committee meetings in October 2017.

Rady added that Sisi updated his Portuguese counterpart on economic reforms in Egypt and promising investments in the under-construction mega national projects.
