CAIRO – 5 April 2018: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi received Speaker of the Moroccan House of Representatives Habib Al-Malki on Tuesday.

During the meeting, President Sisi stressed that the bilateral relations between the two countries are “forever deep-rooted and historic,” praising the distinguished relations that the two countries have and continue to develop in various fields.

Malki conveyed the greetings of King Mohammed VI of Morocco to Sisi, congratulating him on being elected president for a second term. He pointed out that his re-election reflected Egyptians’ renewed confidence in the president during this critical stage.

Meanwhile, Sisi also conveyed his greetings to King Mohammed VI, expressing Egypt's appreciation for his positions supporting Egypt and the choices of its people, as well as his keenness to establish a joint committee soon.

Malki praised Egypt's successful efforts in fighting terrorism on different fronts, as well as the continuous progression materialized in the economic file. “Egypt is the pillar of the region,” he stated.

On the sidelines of his participation in the 27th Conference of the Arab Parliamentary Union, which was hosted by the Egyptian Parliament, Ali Abdul Aal also received Malki and his accompanying delegation.

Abdul Aal emphasized Egypt's firm stances towards supporting the unity of all Moroccan territories in light of the relevant U.N. resolutions, praising the Kingdom of Morocco’s support for the June 30 Revolution and the Egyptian people's choices.

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry also met with Malki in a closed meeting, in which they both reviewed the latest regional developments in the Arab and African arenas, as well as the importance of the continuation of joint consultation and coordination between the two countries on the most important issues of common interest and concern.
