CAIRO – 3 April 2017: The largest petrochemical facility in Egypt, at a cost of $3.7 billion, is being set up by the Korean company ‘’GS’’. The facility will completed in June 2018 and will provide about half of Egypt’s diesel needs, South Korea's Ambassador in Egypt, Sungu Yun, said Wednesday.

The ambassador described the relations between the two countries as solid, stressing that the last visit of President Abdel Fatah Sisi to his country significantly enhanced these relations.

Yun pointed out that South Korea is the seventh largest economic partner of Egypt and that it is also involved in some infrastructure and renewable energy projects in Egypt. He also emphasized that Korea’s Samsung company is the largest exporter of electronics to Egypt.

Yun ended his report by saying that South Korea supports Egypt in its war against terrorism, extremism and participates in international efforts to eliminate terrorist groups.
