CAIRO – 26 March 2018: Leaders and members of al-Nour Salafist party participated en-masse in the Egyptian presidential election on Monday March 26.

Deputy President of al-Nour party, Yasser el Borhamy, cast his ballot in the presidential election on Monday. Undersecretary General of al-Nour Party, Mohamed Mansour, said that the party set up an operational room to observe the election.

Secretary of the al-Nour Party in Menoufia governorate stated in a press release that voter turnout in the polls is very promising; pointing out that the members of the party voted for President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi.

In a press conference in January, al-Nour Party chairperson, Younes Makhioun, announced the party’s support for President Sisi to run for a second term in the presidential election in March.

"President Sisi is the only person who can bring the country stability and protection," said Makhioun, calling on people to participate in the election.

As of Monday March 26 at 9 a.m., polling stations across Egypt opened their doors for 60 million eligible voters to cast their ballots in the presidential election, in which incumbent president Sisi, and al-Ghad party chairperson, Moussa Moustafa Moussa, are vying for the presidential seat.
