CAIRO – 26 March 2018: The U.S. Embassy in Cairo will hold its fourth annual job fair “Shaghlna” on March 31 at the AUC's Greek Campus to underscore the embassy’s keenness on promoting Egypt’s economic growth and the development of its people.

During the fair, more than 60 companies will provide more than 5,000 verified job opportunities. Participating companies include Coca-Cola, General Motors, Berlitz, Raya Contact Center, Vodafone Egypt, and Americana, among many others.

In addition to the thousands of jobs available, the fair will provide job-seekers with professional development and training sessions.

According to Chargé d’Affaires Thomas Goldberger, “Shaghlna helps match talented Egyptians with U.S., international, and local companies. We are proud of our support for increased job opportunities in Egypt and we look forward to partnering with Egyptian businesses and the government to continue expanding economic opportunity.”

"The “Shaghlna” fair is the first in a three-fair series, with other events taking place in Luxor in May and in Alexandria in late summer. The fair builds upon our previous successes and is, as always, free and open to the public,"Goldberger added.

In February 2017, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) held the “Transition to Employment” conference,as part of the USAID’s Workforce Improvement and Skills Enhancement (WISE) project in Egypt.

The conference aimed to prepare graduating students for the workplace by bringing leaders of Egyptian businesses and technical schools into dialogue with private sector employees to discuss how to prepare graduating students for the workplace. It also addressed the turnover in the private sector, on-the-job training, and recruitment issues.
