CAIRO – 18 March 2018: The 2018 Egyptian presidential election polling stations in New Zealand and Australia began counting ballot papers Sunday, according to media reports.

The Egyptian Embassy in Canberra and the Egyptian Consulates in Sydney and Melbourne announced the end of the voting process on Sunday, 9 p.m. local time, on the third and final day of voting.

The presidential election has been running over the past three days in 139 foreign embassies and consulates across 124 foreign countries.

The National Election Authority (NEA) spokesperson Mahmoud El Sherif said that the NEA will release a detailed report on the election’s participation rate following the end of the voting process for citizens residing in Egypt. The process will take place between March 26 and 28.
