CAIRO – 17 March 2018: Presidential hopeful Moussa Moustafa Moussa hailed the intensive participation of Egyptian voters overseas in the March vote.

In press remarks, Moussa said that the huge voter turnout observed on the first day of expat voting encourages local Egyptians to go in droves and participate actively in the electoral process, which starts in Egypt on March 26.

The scene of the remarkable participation of Egyptian voters abroad shuts the mouths of those who propagate that the presidential election is a sort of referendum and does not shape up to a real competition between him and President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi.

“I bet on the awareness of the Egyptian people, whom I believe are extremely passionate about their home country, will go out in crowds to vote when the elections roll around and will not allow anyone to turn them against the Egyptian state,” he further added.

On Friday, eligible Egyptian voters abroad started casting their ballots at Egyptian embassies across the world and for three consecutive days.

President Sisi and al-Ghad Party head Moussa Moustafa Moussa are the only candidates approved to run in the election. The voting process officially commences for Egyptians residing in the country March 26-28.
