Three policemen killed in armed attack in Cairo

CAIRO – 2 May 2017: Three policemen were killed in an armed attack on moving security convoy eastern Cairo, Ministry of Interior said in a statement on Tuesday.

“At 23:45 p.m. on Monday, armed men in two vehicles opened fire on police moving convoy on Waha Road in Nasr City eastern Cairo; three policemen were killed and five others wounded,” the statement said.

The convoy was crossing a roundabout that intersects with the main Ring Road that surrounds the capital, separating New Cairo and newer real estate projects from the city.

Police returned fire at the attackers' vehicles, which they were pursuing "in an effort to apprehend the perpetrators," the ministry said.
