CAIRO – 16 March 2018: Egyptian Ambassador to the UAE Wael Gad extended the voting time for the presidential election by two hours due to the huge turnout.

Gad said in press remarks that the Egyptian embassy in Dubai is witnessing a large turnout from the Egyptian communities in the UAE, and therefore the voting will carry on until 9:00 p.m. instead of 7:00 p.m.

Voter turnout was recorded the highest in Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Riyadh and Jeddah, said Mahmoud Al Sherif, the National Election Authority’s spokesperson, during a press conference on Friday.

Eligible Egyptian voters abroad started casting their ballots via Egyptian embassies across the world Friday.

President Abdel Fatah Al Sisi and Al-Ghad Party head Moussa Moustafa Mossua are the only candidates approved to run in the election. The voting process officially commences for Egyptians residing inside the country on March 26 and will last until March 28.
