CAIRO – 16 March 2018: Egypt’s Ministry of Immigration published pictures of Egyptians participating in the presidential elections in Doha, Qatar, while carrying Egypt’s flag, on its official website.

The Egyptian presidential elections abroad are held by 139 consulates and embassies representing 124 countries starting from Friday March 16 to Sunday March 18.

However, the Minister of Manpower, Mohamed Safan, received a report from the Employment Representation Office in the Department of Interests in Doha, noting that Qatar’s government did not charge buses to transfer the voters to the embassies compound.

The Egyptian embassy in New Zealand was the first to open to the electorate, given an 11-hour time difference with Cairo.

China, Japan, Russia and Indonesia followed it shortly throughout the night.

Due to political unrest and a worsening security situation, presidential elections are not held for Egyptians abroad in Syria, Libya, Yemen, Somalia and Central Africa.
