CAIRO – 1 May 2017: The Cairo Criminal Court has adjourned on Sunday the trial of 48 defendants, affiliated with the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood (MB) group, over acts of violence in Cairo’s Ain Shams district that led to the killing of journalist Mayada Ashraf and two others in March 2014. The trial has been adjourned to 14 May.

The 48 defendants were accused of acts of violence in Ain Shams district in the period between January and June 2014.

Ashraf, 22, was fatally shot in head during covering clashes between pro-MB protesters and security forces in 2014 in Ain Shams, east of Cairo.
