CAIRO – 1 March 2018: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisidemandedthatmedia outletsensureno offence is made against the Egyptian armed forces and police, stressing that such an actcannot be regarded asfreedom of expression; but is rather an unacceptable offense.

This came during the inauguration of the first phase of the New Alamein City on Thursday in Matrouh Governorate.

Sisi further emphasized that entertaining a perspective that opposes the army is not an issue, yet voicing that perspective publicly is an issue that must come to an end.



Sisi inaugurated Thursday the first phase of the New Alamein City. The first phase of New Alamein will include an eco-city. New Alamein City will also include a national university, comprising of a number of applied science faculties, an opera house, a library and a museum.

The city is located on an area of 48,000 feddans (49,824 acres) and is expected to be inhabited by more than 400,000 citizens.
