Arab League stresses importance of empowering women in Arab world

CAIRO - 26 February 2018: The Arab League (AL) has stressed the importance of efforts to upgrade the position of Arab women, who effectively contribute to economic, social, political and cultural aspects of life.

The AL pays big attention to the empowerment of women and their role in achieving sustainable development, it said in a statement Monday.

Tunisia will host the 37th session of the Arab women committee on March 1, the statement said.

The Arab women committee will probe issues related to women empowerment in the Arab world and the 2030 sustainable development agenda, it added.

The committee will also discuss the role of women in eliminating terrorism, according to the statement.

The session will also focus on cooperation programs with regional and international organizations to empower women, it noted.
