CAIRO – 26 April 2017: Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari has invited his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shokry to visit Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, according to a Wednesday statement from the Iraqi Foreign Ministry. Shoukry welcomed the invitation and promised to visit.

Jaafari and Shoukry met on the sidelines of the Ancient Civilizations Forum in Athens, the capital of Greece.

The two sides discussed bilateral relations, promoting cooperation in all fields and international efforts to establish security and eliminate terrorism.

They also agreed to hold a meeting of the Iraqi-Egyptian Higher Committee soon to develop economic cooperation and trade, and support Egyptian companies’ investments in Iraq.

The Iraqi statement added the need to facilitate granting visas to Iraqis visiting Egypt.
