CAIRO - 20 February 2018: Arab League (AL) Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit on Tuesday urged stopping attacks on Eastern Ghouta area near the Syrian capital Damascus.

Arab League spokesman Mahmoud Afifi quoted Abul Gheit as having said that attacks that are carried out by governmental forces and their allied troops do not discriminate between civilians and militiamen.

He added that the forces are using weapons that are not commensurate with the nature of residential areas, according to the spokesman.

The Arab League chief added that the situation would lead to the fall of many civilian victims, calling for stopping the attack on humanitarian grounds, added the spokesman.
