CAIRO - 14 February 2018: Participants in Azhar University's first conference on combating corruption hailed efforts exerted by the Armed Forces and police to uproot terrorism.

The conference opened on Wednesday under the aegis of Grand Imam of Al Azhar Ahmed Tayyeb.

The get-together is meant to tackle the financial, administrative and intellectual corruption as well as Egypt's strategy for confronting it.

Azhar University President Mohamed Hussein el Mahrsawi stressed that Islam rejects all kinds of corruption and calls for fighting it for security and stability to prevail in any society.

Addressing Al Azhar University's first conference for combating corruption, Grand Mufti Shawqy Allam highlighted the importance of closing ranks in the face of terrorism and corruption, especially intellectual and religious corruption.

He hailed the role played by the army and police to eradicate terrorism.

He added that confronting corruption requires entrenching the principles of patriotism and loyalty.
