CAIRO – 8 February 2018: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi asserted that using modern methods of irrigation and agriculture will save a huge amount of water that can be utilized in other sectors. He called on Egyptians to be keen and carful in using each drop of water.

During the inauguration of the first phase of a project to establish greenhouses on an area of 100,000 feddans (approx. one acre) in the Matrouh governorarte, Sisi stated that these greenhouse projects are not “Luxurious,” but important projects that should be taken seriously by the government and citizens.

He added that the cost of constructing greenhouses is high but saving water is a highly important issue.

The project aims at developing the economy by increasing the production of planted crops and the exploited area across the nation. Greenhouses consume about 70 percent water less than traditional agricultural methods; they also can produce high quality agricultural crops out of season.

The greenhouses’ are composed of walls and a transparent roof to enable plants to grow in regulated climatic conditions, providing different weather and temperatures to the outside environment.
