CAIRO – 7 February 2018: The National Elections Authority (NEA) will print 60 million voting ballots ahead of the presidential election which is due in March 26, 27 and 28, Spokesperson of the NEA, Mahmoud Sherif, announced on Wednesday.

The NEA’s election preparation is already in full swing. Sherif added in his phone-in interview to CBC extra news on Wednesday that the authority has already met with a delegation from the Amiri Press Authority to discuss the details related to the printing of the election voting ballots.

Also, the Head of the National Media Authority (Maspero), Hussein Zein, has issued a decision to organize the timeline of media coverage of the presidential election 2018 from the casting of votes until the announcement of the result.

The decision includes the formation of follow-up operation rooms to cover all the details and ensure application of standards sanctioned by the National Election Authority in terms of neutrality and integrity.

“The National Media Authority (Maspero) fully abides by the standards ratified by the authority,” Zein said on Wednesday, asserting that all national TV channels will play a role in spreading awareness among the citizens of the importance of participating in the election.

The NEA has already officially announced the official slate for the presidential election, which includes the incumbent President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi and the chairman of al-Ghad political party Moussa Moustafa Mousa.

“Media coverage will ensure national unity away from any hostility and will adhere to the values and ethics of the society as well as balance in reporting news of candidates,” he added.
