CAIRO - 5 February 2018: The third Arab Parliaments' Speakers Conference will be held at the headquarters of the Arab League General Secretariat on Saturday, Feb.10.

The conference will be attended by AL Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit, as well as the presidents of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA) and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM).

Preparatory meetings, under AP Speaker Meshal Faham M. Alsulami, will be held on Wednesday and Thursday.

In a statement on Monday, Alsulami said this year's conference will issue a comprehensive Arab document on fighting terrorism and extremist ideology in Arab states.

The document will be referred to the 29th Arab Summit, set for Riyadh in March, for endorsement, he added.

The document will also deal with challenges besetting the Arab nation in fighting terrorism, particularly in light of the continuation of the occupying power (Israel)'s exercise of terror and its denial of the Palestinian people's legitimate right to establish an independent state with Al Quds as its capital, Alsulami said.

The conference will also issue a joint statement on the latest developments in Al Quds (occupied East Jerusalem) and other occupied Arab lands, he stressed.
