CAIRO – 4 February 2018: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi’s visit to Oman aims mainly to discuss Middle East issues, including the Syrian and Yemeni crises, said the official spokesperson of Egyptian Presidency, Bassam Radi.

Radi added in a phone call to CBC that Sisi will exchange views with Sultan of Oman Qaboos bin Said over boosting bilateral relations between the two countries, mainly trade.

The Egyptian president and his accompanying delegation will also meet a number of Omani businessmen and investors to discuss increasing cooperation in different economic sectors.

Radi pointed out that President Sisi will also visit the UAE, where he will meet high-level Emirati officials to discuss issues of mutual concern as well as the Gulf situation.

President Sisi will pay a visit to Muscat on Sunday for the first time since he took office in 2014, upon an invitation from Sultan Qaboos.

The relations between Egypt and Oman have been characteristically warm and stable for decades.
