CAIRO, 25 January 2018: Egypt's foreign ministry categorically dismissed a statement by US Senator John McCain on Wednesday on the January 25 revolution.

"The statement offers random charges and incorrect fallacies and information about the conditions in Egypt and its political course," said the ministry in a press release.

It asserted that "the revolution belongs only to the Egyptian people, who need nobody to remind them of it".

"It represents their great historic values stated in the constitution," added the ministry.

McCain's statement, coinciding with the celebrations of Egyptians over the January revolution, repeated false claims that had been previously refuted.

The statement unfortunately pays no attention to key steps Egypt achieved to boost values and principles of democracy and human rights, said the foreign ministry.

It also includes no reference to the volume and nature of challenges faced by the Egyptian people including terrorism.
