CAIRO - 21 January 2017: The Chairman of the House of Representatives' Foreign Affairs Committee, Tarek Radwan met with Portuguese Ambassador to Egypt Madalena Fischer on Sunday to discuss preparations for a visit from the Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa to Egypt.

Radwan asserted the depth of the mutual relations between the two countries in all international and regional fields.

Fischer hailed Egypt’s efforts in its fight against terrorism in order to achieve stability in the Middle East.

In a separate meeting, Radwan discussed with the Jordanian ambassador to Egypt, Ali Ayed, the mutual regional and international issues.

Ayed asserted that Jordan is keen on developing and expanding the economic relations it shares with Egypt as it is a vital country in the Middle East, pointing out that 1.2 million Egyptians work in Jordan and participate in building the Jordanian renaissance.

Ayed also stated that the trade exchange between the two countries is estimated to be worth $800 million, asserting that his country desires to increase cooperation with Egypt in various fields.

Ayed expressed his country's desire to establish an Egyptian-Jordanian Friendship Association to support cooperation between the two countries in the parliamentarian field. Radwan promised to convey this desire to Dr. Ali Abdel-Aal, speaker of the House of Representatives.
