Ethio--Egyptian Nile Relations

Egypt and Ethiopia are at logger heads over the sharing of the Nile River water .Prior to the construction of GRDE across the Nile, Egypt utilised most of the water much to the disadvantage of the upper reparian Ethiopia.Egypt has been citing the earlier agreements signed the early 20 century ---under the colonial rule of Britain. Egypt has been protesting against the GRDE which reduces the flow of water threatening agriculture and drinking water and accuses Ethiopia for violating international agreements. After the failure of the earlier negotiations ,both countries indulged in "War of Words" escalating tensions. Qatar an arch rival of Egypt has agreed to fund GRDE adding fuel to fire.Sudan,a lower reparian country has complied with Ethiopian view and agreed to purchase electricity from GRDE. To solve the on going crisis, the Prime Minister air dashed to Cairo to meet his counterpart for amicable settlement.
