CAIRO - 16 January 2018: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry asserted on Tuesday that Al Quds (East Jerusalem) and the protection of sacred places in the holy city will remain one of the top priorities of Egypt's foreign policy.

Shoukry's statements came at a meeting with Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Youssef al Othaimeen, currently visiting Cairo to take part in an international conference on supporting Al Quds, due to kick off tomorrow.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said Shoukry welcomed the OIC secretary general, expressing to him his appreciation of the organization's role in supporting the principles of Islamic solidarity in the face of challenges.

Othaimeen, for his part, said he values Egypt's role in defense of the Islamic world at regional and international forums. (MENA)
