Third Field Army destroys 5 motorbikes, four-wheel drive vehicle in Sinai

CAIRO – 11 January 2018: The Third Field Army has destroyed five motorbikes, a four-wheel drive vehicle and two explosive devices affiliated to terrorist groups in Central Sinai, military spokesperson, Tamer al-refa’ay, said in a statement on the official website on Thursday.

Strongholds and hotbeds are sought out and targeted by Army forces affiliated to the Third Field Army law enforcement as part of intensive efforts to uproot terrorists.

Simultaneously, quantities of narcotics were seized at one crossing leading to Central Sinai, within the framework of the army’s crackdown to eliminate the Takfiri and criminal elements in Sinai.

Egypt’s army has conducted a fierce battle against terrorists in the Sinai Peninsula for five years. The peninsula had been a hotbed for terrorists since the overthrow of the Muslim Brotherhood regime in 2013.

Earlier today, President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi met with the defense and interior ministers and the head of the General Intelligence Service to tackle the latest security developments in Egypt.
