CAIRO – 6 January 2018: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi has attended the Coptic Christmas Mass at the Cathedral of the New Administrative Capital on Saturday.

Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Mark’s Diocese will lead the mass, which is attended by ministers and dignitaries, amid highly security measures.

President Sisi attended the Coptic Christmas mass held last two years.

The General Directorate of Traffic have deployed more troops to secure the highways and roads leading to the under-contraction administrative Capital.

Coptic Orthodox Christians, who represent approximately 90 percent of Egypt’s Christians, break their 43-day fast and celebrate Christmas on 7 January based on the Coptic calendar.
