Interior Ministry closes five Facebook pages for inciting violence

CAIRO - 5 January 2018: The Interior Ministry's Communications and Information Technology Sector announced on Friday that five Facebook pages were closed for inciting violence against state institutions and citizens.

In a statement, the sector said the one-week campaign also resulted in recording 269 cases of inciting violence and blackmailing of citizens via social media.

Also, 264 people were arrested on charges of defrauding citizens via social networking websites.
