Cairo - 12 April 2017: All Angels Evangelical church, located in Cairo’s Heliopolis district, announced the cancellation of Easter celebration Wednesday after attacks on two Coptic churches in Egypt killed at least 45 people on Palm Sunday.

Andréa Zaki, Pastor and President of the Evangelical community in Egypt officially announced the cancelation through the community’s media office.

Zaki mentioned in his announcement that Egypt is currently in a state of mourning therefore the church cannot display any sort of celebration to pay respect to the martyrs killed in the blasts. He added that a prayer, during the upcoming Easter, would pay a tribute to the martyrs and the unity of Egypt against terrorism.

Prayers are set to be performed normally in the church on 15 April amid tight security presence.
