CAIRO – 29 December 2017: The body of Ali el-Sayed el-Morsi, an Egyptian national who was killed in Jordan on Wednesday, arrived at Cairo International Airport on Friday.

Morsi’s family received his body and he was buried at the family’s cemetery in El-Sharqia governorate.

Morsi’s body was released from the airport after a Department of Quarantine examination to check for the cause of death.

According to the initial diagnosis in Jordan, Morsi suffered from a double skull fractures and internal bleeding, leading to his death.

Morsi’s body was received by a number of officials from the Ministry of Manpower in accordance with instructions from Minister Mohamed Saffan, to follow procedures related to the body’s arrival and to follow up with the investigation by the Jordanian prosecutor general.

On December 27, Morsi was hospitalized as a result of being beaten and dragged by several Jordanians during a fight over money (up to JOD 2,000). He died later due to his injuries.

The Jordanian Ministry of Manpower condemned the incident in an official statement on Thursday: “We strongly condemn what happened to the Egyptian citizen Ali el-Sayed el-Morsi.”

The Egyptian Embassy in Jordan said in a statement on Thursday that whoever committed the crime will be punished in accordance with the law.
