CAIRO – 9 April 2017: Egypt's Prosecutor General Ahmed Nabil Sadek on Sunday assigned a team from the General Prosecution to investigate the Mar Girgis Church explosion in Tanta.

Thirty people were killed after an explosion ripped through a Coptic church in Tanta, north of Cairo during a service celebrating Palm Sunday.

Sadek told MENA that he is monitoring developments closely.

The Prosecutor General also issued directives to Egyptian Homeland Security and other security authorities to take necessary measures to track down the perpetrators.

He also demanded fast autopsies of the victims, and assigned other teams to take eyewitnesses testimonies and interview victims injured during the explosion.
