CAIRO – 6 April 2017: The Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture will open various public gardens across the country for free as part of celebrations for Orphans Day which falls on the first Friday of April,

This year, Orphans Day falls on Friday, April 7.

Egyptian Minister of Agriculture Abd Al-Moneim Al-Banna said the gardens will be open to the publish for free and confirmed that garden employees will be present to handle any overcrowding and clean-up. There are also plans to ease traffic on Friday, he added.

Weekends in Egypt are Friday and Saturday, with few employees working on Fridays, usually reserved as a family day.

Orman, Zamalek Fish Garden and the Giza Zoo are among the gardens offering free entrance in greater Cairo; Athineos Gardens in the Mediterranean city of Alexandria and Aswan’s Botanical Gardens will also be open for free.
