CAIRO - 13 March 2017: American E-commerce giant Amazon is reportedly negotiating to establish a logistics center in Cairo, Hany Kesis, former chairperson of the Egyptian-American Business Council, told Daily News Egypt on Monday.

A delegation from Amazon is scheduled to arrive in Cairo within 2-3 weeks. During their stay, the delegation is set to meet with a large number of companies’ representatives and governmental officials to discuss procedures and the appropriate location for their planned Cairo headquarters.

Kesis said a number of Egyptian companies conducted successful negotiations with Amazon to distribute the company’s products.

Should the plan come into effect, Kesis expects Egyptian exports through Amazon to amount to $1bn in the first phase, Daily News reported.

Amazon is an American electronic commerce company that was founded in 1994.
