CAIRO – 16 December 2017: The National Authority for Tunnels received an offer from the French company Vinci to begin the implementation of the fourth phase of Cairo’s third Metro line, according to the chairman of the National Authority for Tunnels, Tarek Jamal al-Din.

The 6.65 kilometer-long fourth phase is comprised of five underground stations and will extend from Heliopolis to Cairo Air port. Cairo’s third Metro line will expand to 48 kilometers in length, making it the longest metro line in the Middle East.

The French company also took it upon itself to implement the digging works for the first and second phases of Cairo’s third line metro as per a €90 million soft loan signed back in 2014 provided by the French Development Agency and the European Investment Bank.
