CAIRO - 14 December 2017: Speaker of the Arab Parliament Meshal al Salmi urged on Thursday the US House of Representatives to reconsider the Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995, which approved the relocation of the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

In a message to US House Speaker Paul Ryan, Salmi reiterated rejection of the US decision to pass the controversial law and recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

The US move violates all international conventions and resolutions on the Palestinian issue and poses a threat to regional and international peace and security, he said.

The US, as a UN Security Council permanent member state, should respect the UN resolutions on Palestine as well as the Arab peace initiative, which was drafted at the Arab League Summit in March 2002, he noted.
