CAIRO – 1 April 2017: The Suez Criminal Court sentenced a judge to life in prison and a 500,000 EGP fine on Saturday for possession and trafficking of cannabis, according to a

The judge was found guilty of possessing 71 kilograms of cannabis, forming a gang, abusing drugs and possession of an automatic weapon.

Two other defendants in the case, a Polish student and the judge’s driver, were sentenced to 10 years in prison and a fine of 50,000 EGP each for drug trafficking.

The judge, who is the head of a Sharqiya Misdemeanors Court, was arrested in November 2016 for possession of cannabis. He denied all allegations during investigations.
