CAIRO - 9 December 2017: Chairman of the Presidential Council of Libya, Fayez al-Sarraj will arrive in Cairo within hours to discuss the Libyan crisis with President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, according to a Libyan source on Saturday.

Talks between the two leaders will address the recent developments in Libya; especially the upcoming second anniversary of the Skhirat agreement on December 17 would bring an end to Sarraj’s term of office.

Sarraj will discuss with Sisi the outcome of his latest visit to the U.S. and his meeting with President Donald Trump, and his meeting with Counselor Angel Merkel in Germany. They will also tackle the issue of Egypt’s efforts to unite the Libyan military institution.

On Friday, Sisi met with Minister of Finance Osama Hamad of the Libyan Government of National Accord, at the sidelines of the 2017 Africa Forum held in Sharm El-Sheikh.

During their meeting, Sisi stressed the importance of preserving the territorial unity of Libya stressed that Libya should work on preserving its stability, expressing Egypt’s support of Libya given the social historical relations that the two countries share.
