CAIRO – 28 March 2017: Egypt condemned in the “strongest terms possible” attempts to subvert the security and stability of the Kingdom of Bahrain after a terrorist cell was detained for planning and carrying out terrorist attacks on Bahraini soil in an official statement released Tuesday by the Foreign Ministry.

“Bahraini authorities managed to dismantle an Iranian-linked ‘terrorist cell’ suspected of involvement in a bomb attack on a police bus in February and plotting to assassinate senior officials,” Reuters reported, citing state news agency BNA.

Egypt “stands in complete solidarity” with Bahrain in its fight against terrorism and expressed its “full support” of the measures taken by the Bahraini government to thwart terrorist plots and attacks, the statement read.

Egypt renewed its call for concerted efforts to combat terrorism, which it said goes against all human values and principles, emphasizing the necessity of having an international approach to halt the phenomena of terrorism and “dry out its funding,” the statement added.
