CAIRO – 7 December 2017: Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah said on Thursday U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision on recognizing Jerusalem as the Israeli capital ends U.S. role in the peacekeeping process.

Delivering a speech during a press conference of the Palestinian government, Hamdallah noted that moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem undermines the peace process, adding that standing united will protect the holy sites from potential risks.

Hamdallah also expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s efforts to finalize the reconciliation between Palestinian factions.

United States President Donald Trump has officially recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel on Wednesday during a televised speech from the White House, Washington D.C.

"It is the headquarters of many government ministries. For many years, visiting American diplomats met their Israeli counterparts in Jerusalem… It is now the heart of one of the most successful democracies in the world," Trump stated during his speech on Wednesday.

Palestinian Fattah leader and Political analyst Ayman al-Raqab stated on Thursday that the third uprising will be staged after U.S. President Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as the Israeli capital.

"Masses of Palestinian people will come out in the coming hours and days to denounce and reject Trump’s resolution," Raqab stated.

He added that the U.S. is no longer a fair sponsor of the peace process, but an enemy, stressing that the Arab countries should take swift actions against Trump’s resolution and all Palestinian factions should cooperate and coordinate against the U.S. and Israel.
