Abu el-Wafa added that the Abu-Qir line will be developed and electrified to be like the first Metro line in Cairo, and will be extended to Borg El-Arab.

The suggested metro line is expected to be implemented in three phases: the first from Abu-Qir to Masr station, the second from Masr station to el-Max station and the third from Max to Borg el-Arab. It will connect to the Japanese University, which is expected to be built in Borg el-Arab, Abu el-Wafa said.

Abu el-Wafa said there is a Chinese offer to establish the first phase in addition to the Japanese offer to establish the second and third phases.
