CAIRO – 3 December 2017: Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shourky discussed Sunday counterterrorism efforts with deputy secretary-general of the United Nations (UN) Amina Mohammed in Cairo, Foreign Ministry's spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid said.

Shoukry stressed Egypt's full support for the UN’s pivotal role and efforts in addressing many issues of concern to the international community at various levels.

He pointed out Egypt's keenness to provide all forms of support to improve the mechanisms of the Organization's work in line with current global developments.

On her part, Mohammed delivered her condolences for Al-Rawdah attack and hailed the Egyptian diplomacy for supporting UN General Assembly’s resolutions.

Mohammed also reviewed the UN plan and vision on ways to implement its development agenda, alongside the Organization's efforts in the field of international peace and security

She praised the results of her meetings with the officials of the Ministry of Planning and its comprehensive vision for development in Cairo.

During the meeting, the two parties discussed means of enhancing cooperation between Egypt and the United Nations.

They pointed out the importance of enhancing the role of the United Nations in advancing the agenda of sustainable development 2030 with its various economic, social and environmental dimensions, especially the climate change issue.
