CAIRO – 1 December 2017: The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb, will lead Friday prayer at North Sinai’s Al-Rawdah mosque following the deadly terrorist attack that hit the mosque last week, according to a statement by the North Sinai governorate.

The terror-stricken mosque is set to host a big ceremony in the presence of the Minister of Endowments, Mokhtar Gomaa; the Grand Mufti of Egypt, Sheikh Shawki Allam; and a large number of state officials and parliament members with the aim to show strength and unity in the fight against terrorism.

Egypt had declared a three-day mourning period following the bloody attack that targeted Al-Rawdah mosque in Bir Al-Abd city during Friday prayer and left about 305 dead, including 27 children, and 128 injured.

The Deputy of Endowments Ministry in North Sinai, Mohamed Al-Aesh, affirmed that the ministry has completed the maintenance process of Al-Rawdah mosque after it was damaged in the incident.
