CAIRO – 5 March 2016: Security forces in Suez arrested a terror cell of five men Sunday on allegations they aided the Islamic State (IS) group, a Homeland Security official told Youm7, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The arrest took place after investigations tracked the IS-affiliated cell to a village located in El-Ganayen district in Suez.

A squad of policemen, detectives and homeland security officers surrounded the house where the men were hiding and detained them before they could try to escape.

Documents and papers related to IS were found in the men’s possession, in addition to plans to travel to Libya through Egypt’s southern borders in order to receive training there.

During interrogations the men, who recently joined the IS-affiliated cell, confessed professing IS thinking and to contacting Libyan IS militants who were planned to train them once they reached Libya.
