WASHINGTON - 30 November 2017: US State Department Spokeswoman Heather Nauert urged the presidential candidates in Honduras to respect the official results once they are available, ABC News reported Thursday.

"We await the final tabulation of results by election authorities and urge the authorities to complete their work without undue delay," Nauert said. "The United States urges calm and patience as the results are tabulated."

Several US lawmakers expressed concern and urged transparency.

The officials in Honduras postponed the announcement of the final results of the presidential elections, as the most prominent candidates were Juan Orlando Hernandez and Salvador Nasralla.
