CAIRO – 25 November 2017: Singapore strongly condemned on Saturday the terrorist attack on Al-Rawdah Mosque in the North Sinai in Egypt during Friday prayers, which left 235 dead and 109 injured.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore released a statement saying “Those responsible for this odious act must be brought to justice.”

“We express our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wish the injured a swift recovery. Singapore stands together with the Egyptian government and people against the scourge of terrorism in this time of national mourning,” the statement read.

The attack took place during the Friday Prayers held at the Al-Rawdah Mosque located in west Arish; the mosque was damaged as a result of the bomb.

Eyewitnesses said that the militants set fire in cars that belonged to residents and blocked the road in Al-Rawdah Village.

A total of 50 ambulance vehicles, security forces and bomb squad were deployed to the attacked village in Arish following the attack.
