CAIRO – 22 November 2017: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi’s capability to participate in solving the Lebanon crisis is a highly trusted matter, according to Lebanese Forces Party former Head Adviser Tawfiq Hindi’s statements to Egypt Today Wednesday.

He added that the visit on Tuesday night conveyed a strong message to all the conflicting regional interests over Lebanon, including Iran. He stated that Egypt’s stance is clear regarding the refusal of any foreign interference in Lebanese affairs.

Yesterday, Hariri arrived in Cairo and met Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi.

During their meeting, Sisi stressed Egypt’s full support for Lebanon’s stability, calling on all Lebanese parties to prioritize the national interests of the Lebanese people and reject foreign interference in the country’s internal affairs.

This meeting came after Hariri’s 18-day absence from Lebanon during which he announced his sudden resignation.

In his statements to Egypt Today, Hindi affirmed that all of the foreign interference in Lebanon’s affairs needs to stop immediately in order for the country to reach stability.

“Al-Hariri clearly sent his message to the world. He wanted to say that Lebanon doesn’t stand alone in front of these foreign interferences and that many other Arab countries support it,” Hindi added.

Bishara Khairalla, advisor of Former Lebanese President Michel Suleiman explained to Egypt Today that after Hariri’s decision to suspend his resignation, he is expected to form a new government with new terms to prevent Iran from interfering in the affairs of the country.

Khairalla also noted that Sisi’s meeting with Hariri was needed to discuss all available scenarios for the current political situation.

Earlier, Hariri arrived in Lebanon to attend the country’s Independence Day celebration. He gave a speech in which he announced he would suspend his resignation to allow more serious dialogue between political parties to take place.

“I presented today my resignation to President Michel Aoun but he urged me to wait before offering it and to wait for more dialogue on its reasons and political background, and I agreed," Hariri said in his speech.

He added that this dialogue is supposed to tackle all his reasons for resignation. “I accepted Aoun’s request to postpone my resignation, hoping that this will offer us a serious chance to address our sectarian problems and their impact on our international relations especially with our Arab brothers,” Hariri stated.
